What are bed bugs?

Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) are small parasitic insects that feed exclusively on blood.

Unlike many other human parasites, these insects do not permanently reside on the host's body, coming into contact only to feed, and prefer to spend the rest of the time well hidden in close proximity to places where the host sleeps or spends long periods of time.

In fact, their activity is mainly nocturnal.
